Project carried out by: AS VIRŠI-A

Press release: here

Project period: 1 May 2022 to 30 April 2024

EU co-financing: up to EUR 1,080,000

Overall goal of the project:

Increase the capacity of the charging infrastructure in Latvia and offer a larger number of more powerful electric vehicle charging stations to clients.

Specific goal of the project:

Completing this project will enable VIRŠI-A to set up an extensive charging network that will provide its clients with a charging capacity of at least 150 kW, and to install more powerful connections to the distribution system operator's mains at eight stations, making it possible to also charge lorries at these stations in the future.

Project progress: Status on December 31, 2023

  • In 2023, 17 ports with a capacity of 160 kW were installed, while by the end of the third quarter in 2024, it is planned to build the remaining 11 ports included in the project.
  • In 2023, four of the project's eight high-capacity connections were also built.

"In 2023, Virši significantly expanded its electric car charging network, which already makes up 42 connection points. Virši power charging is available at 14 Virši service stations, as well as – we opened one station together with our partner SIA Kurbads & KO. Based on customer reviews and activity, we conclude that customers appreciate the advantages of the Virši charging network, which is not only high charging power and convenient payments in mobile apps, but also the opportunity to visit the Virši convenience store while charging and taste the products offered by Virši.
We will continue to work on the installation of charging stations co-financed by the European Union in order to achieve the goal already by September 2024 – all 28 connection points will be built, where customers can receive 160kW of power, which allows to load 150 km of energy in 10 minutes
," says Anrijs Tukulis, Sustainability project manager of Virši, about the development of the project.

The project is co-financed by the European Union
Installation of charging stations was carried out within the framework of the project VIRSI-e-CHARGE

*On 22 September 2022, an agreement was signed between Virši and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, the first AFIF assistance agreement in the European Union.
